In Loving Memory of our sweet Samson

September 8th, 1997 - October 12th, 2007

After Samson's fairly short battle with cancer we decided that he had gone through enough pain and suffering and it was time to send him to the big horse pasture in the sky. (we joke that Samson's doggie heaven is a big horse pasture because when Samson would run away from home, he would often frequent the horse pasture about a mile away. I think he thought he should be more of a farm dog or something?)

I think I shared the above picture shortly after we got Kemper, of Samson sleeping with his arm around Kemper. And the picture below was taken 2 nights before Samson died. I thought it was so sweet. It was like Kemper knew he was so sick and miserable and needed extra loves :) It was so sweet!

Samson will be truly missed. Hudson spent every night praying that he wouldn't have cancer anymore. on Friday after he died, Hudson said "I pray that Samson would be okay in doggie heaven and that he wouldn't have cancer anymore." Through the tears I said "He doesn't have cancer anymore!"
As sad as it is to not have him around, It is good to not see him struggling and to no longer see his body wasting away by the day!
We will miss our great dog who loved to swim, go for rides, go for walks (with or without us) and we will try our best never to compare Kemper to Samson because although Kemper is a great puppy, He'll have a hard time living up to Samson!

Thanks for sharing his story Jen. It is so sad his time was up and I can completely understand how hard it must be without him. He had a wonderful life and is sure to enjoy the horse pasture in the sky!

Hi Jen, Matt, Camden and Hudson,

I'm so sorry. We all loved Samson so much. He was the best dog ever. I know he is running around the rainbow bridge with all his friends (including Windsor). You will always cherish the beautiful pictures you have of him.
Love, Pam, Emily and Miranda
